Costs include accommodation at Case Vecchie or one of the nearby cottages, and indicated lessons, meals, wine and excursions. Lunch and dinner are served with wines from the Tasca d’Almerita estate. Typical meals and cooking lessons include three or four courses.

Airfare to Sicily is not included in the price. Transportation to and from the Roccapalumba-Alia train station is included in Signature Stays and Workshops at select times. Vegetarian Family Cookery

with Claire Thomson

Join Claire at Anna Tasca Lanza Cooking school to celebrate her most recent cookbook on how to prepare delicious vegetarian meals family style. 

Expect a plethora of diverse ways to make a rounded meal, from simple beautiful salads to more ambitious dishes. Claire will adapt her recipes to highlight Sicilian produce, enlightening you on how you can do the same with what you have available locally. 

Leave after a week with a whole host of new vegetarian recipes up your sleeves, no one will realise there’s no meat on the plate!

Claire Thomson is a professional chef and food writer. She has written for publications including the Guardian, Telegraph, BBC Good Food and appeared on BBC 1’s Saturday Kitchen, BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour and BBC R6. Claire is the author of 7 cookery books, including Tomato, Home Cookery Year and Art of the Larder. Claire also posts on instagram as @5oclockapron documenting what she cooks, day in, day out, a timely and practical prompt for all to see.

10:30 am | Cooking lesson with Claire Thomson

5:00 pm | Visit to the Tasca D’Almerita winery and wine tasting

7:30 pm | Aperitivo followed by dinner around the table

10:00 am | Vegetables harvest in the garden of Case Vecchie

10:30 am | Cooking lesson with Claire 

1:00 pm | Lunch around the table

6:00 pm | Aperitivo in town and farewell dinner in the courtyard of Case Vecchie

7:45 am | Visit a local shepherd and cheesemaker, Filippo Privitera, to see ricotta making. Picnic breakfast included. 

11:30 am | Return to Case Vecchie for a Sicilian cheese tasting followed by lunch

5:30 pm | Cooking lesson with Claire

7:30 pm | Aperitivo followed by dinner around the table

9:00 am | Bountiful breakfast with homemade jams, cakes, coffee, tea and seasonal fruit

10:00 am | Departure to Agriturismo Cuca Farm house, in the village Polizzi Generosa

11:00 am | Visit the production of Badda bean Slow Food at Cuca and enjoy a home-style vegetarian lunch outdoors

2:00 pm | On the road back to Case Vecchie

Free afternoon

7:30 pm | Aperitivo by the pool and dinner at Case Vecchie

9:00 am | Breakfast followed by goodbyes
