Costs include accommodation at Case Vecchie or one of the nearby cottages, shuttle from/to Roccapalumba train station, indicated lessons, meals, wine and excursions. Lunch and dinner are served with wines from the Tasca d’Almerita estate. Typical meals and cooking lessons include three or four courses.

Airfare and private transportation to and from Case Vecchie are not included in the cost. At the time of booking, please let us know if you would like to book a ride to and from the estate. Planned activities and schedules may change at short notice due to seasonal rhythms of life in Sicily.

Flavors and Colors of the Mediterranean

with Chiara Leto and Kyle Pierce

Join us during this week to celebrate the seasonal Mediterranean ingredients found here in the heart of Sicily at the Anna Tasca Lanza Cooking School. We will  explore not only the recipes and cooking techniques of these ingredients, but also understand how they can give color. We will prepare pigments that can be used for dyeing and painting, allowing us to create a seasonal color palette directly from the garden. Chiara Leto, artist and designer, will guide you through this practice of extracting color, whilst Kyle Pierce, resident chef at Case Vecchie, will demonstrate and cook alongside you the recipes of the season using the same ingredients. Come and capture this very special moment, as the landscape transitions from summer to fall here in rural Sicily!


Chiara Leto

is an Italian-English artist and designer who grew up in the countryside, not far from Rome, in a house filled with exotic prints from her father’s travels and her mother’s artwork. Throughout her adult life, she has lived in Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and Europe. Her work is a form of playful escapism that brings to life the colours and shapes discovered on her trips. Chiara’s journey was shaped by curiosity and drive to explore not only different parts of the world but also different facets of creativity. By learning new skills and implementing the most conscious practices, she is redefining how sustainable design looks.

Kyle Pierce

our chef in residence since September 2022, was born in Seattle and joined us after having spent six years leading the Rome Sustainable Food Project at the American Academy in Rome. The experience of working in a community-focused kitchen created by Alice Waters and led by the principles of Slow Food furthered his studies in this style of cooking and sourcing ingredients. At Case Vecchie, he is creating seasonal, fresh and delicious menus for the guests inspired by Sicilian and Mediterranean culinary traditions.
