Costs include accommodation at Case Vecchie or one of the nearby cottages, and indicated lessons, meals, wine and excursions. Lunch and dinner are served with wines from the Tasca d’Almerita estate. Typical meals and cooking lessons include three or four courses.
Airfare to Sicily is not included in the price. Transportation to and from the Roccapalumba-Alia train station is included in Signature Stays and Workshops at select times. Join Claire at Anna Tasca Lanza Cooking school at a time in the year when tomatoes are at their seasonal peak. Expect a riot of tomato based cookery, from simple, beautiful salads to more ambitious tomato based cookery, we will be making use of a variety of fresh Sicilian tomatoes, also too the cookery school’s own estratto di pomodoro and passata. Taste and cook with tomatoes as you never have before, and leave after a week with a whole host of new tomato recipes up your sleeves, possibly too some seeds to return home with and grow your own tomatoes as delicious reminder of a week well spent.
Claire Thomson is a professional chef and food writer. She has written for publications including the Guardian, Telegraph, BBC Good Food and appeared on BBC 1’s Saturday Kitchen, BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour and BBC R6. Claire is the author of 7 cookery books, including Tomato, Home Cookery Year and Art of the Larder. Claire also posts on instagram as @5oclockapron documenting what she cooks, day in, day out, a timely and practical prompt for all to see.

10:30 am | Traditional Sicilian cooking lesson followed by lunch
5:00 pm | Visit to the Tasca D’Almerita winery
7:30 pm | Aperitivo followed by dinner around the table
9:00 am | Bountiful breakfast with homemade jams, cakes, coffee, tea and seasonal fruit
10:30 am | Tomato harvest in the garden followed by seed saving and cooking lesson with Claire.
1:00 pm | Lunch around the table.
3:00 pm | Free afternoon to rest and relax
7:30 pm | Aperitivo followed by dinner around the table
7:45 am | Visit a local shepherd and cheesemaker, Filippo Privitera, to see ricotta making. Picnic breakfast included.
11:30 am | Return to Case Vecchie for a Sicilian cheese tasting followed by lunch
5:00 pm | Tomato tasting and cooking with Claire
7:30 pm | Aperitivo followed by dinner around the table
8:30 am | Bountiful breakfast with homemade jams, cakes, coffee, tea and seasonal fruit
10:00 am | Visit to the tomato cooperative Rinascita in Valledolmo
1:00 pm | Sicilian lunch at Case Vecchie
7:00 pm | Farewell pizza dinner in town

The whole experience, from the accommodations (food, the beautiful location) to all the people we encountered was top notch. The kitchen crew was awesome in every way! I will definitely recommend to friends. David was great, enjoyed his casual style and expertise.
I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and thought the standard of the course was exceptional. I have taken other cooking classes in other countries, and this course was by far more authentic, serious, in-depth and has inspired me.
Everything about the week was worth the effort to get there and the planning was well worth it. It was a week of gourmet eating. The participants were all enthusiastic about being there and that helped make the overall "experience".
I loved everything, beyond beautiful surroundings, fabulous food, wonderful instruction and opportunity to learn about Sicilian cooking, as well as the knowledgeable and very helpful staff. The flowing wine and other guests, who just happened to be amazing also added to my exceptional experience!
We've been telling everybody what great experience we've had at Case Vecchie: breadmaking, Sicilian cooking lessons, daily walks to the winery, visit to the flour mill and ricotta maker and the sheep, your beautiful grounds filled with fruit trees and vegetable gardens and the chicken coop.
